Privacy Policy

In the tools available to the public, files are processed locally in your browser and are not sent for external conversion.

Size and page limits vary with the capacity of the device and preserve a technical safety margin. When a file exceeds that limit in local tools, the operation is refused on the device itself, without the file being sent.

Files are not used to train AI and content is not analyzed for advertising.

Original file names are not used as internal identifiers.

You must have authorization to process your own documents or documents belonging to others.

In the tools available to the public, selected files are processed in the browser on the user's device, and document content is not sent to PDFRefine, Cloudflare, or third parties for processing, storage, or analysis.

Cloudflare, Inc. provides the site’s hosting, content delivery, and security infrastructure. For these purposes, it may process technical connection data, such as IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested URL, browser information, and security logs. This data is separate from the content of the documents processed by PDFRefine and is subject to Cloudflare’s privacy and security practices.

Because of the global infrastructure in use, technical connection data may be processed in countries other than the one where the user is located, subject to the safeguards that apply to the provider.

PDFRefine uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google LLC, to measure site use and performance in aggregate.

GA4 is activated only after the user consents. When authorized, it may process technical and usage data, such as pages visited, interaction events, browser and device information, IP address, and identifiers associated with analytics cookies.

PDFRefine does not send document content, file names, or data entered in the processed files to Google Analytics.

Consent may be refused or withdrawn at any time in Cookie preferences, without preventing use of the site’s tools. Google Analytics is not used for personalized advertising or remarketing.

To learn which tools are used and where they fail, PDFRefine counts technical usage events in its own service, hosted on Cloudflare’s infrastructure. This measurement is independent of Google Analytics and does not use cookies.

Only these are counted: the start, completion, failure and download click of an operation; a code from a fixed list of error reasons; broad bands (not exact values) of file size, page count and processing time; in the compressor, whether the requested size was reached and the reduction band; and the page language.

Never sent: the document or any part of it, file name or path, text, PDF title or metadata, passwords, typed data, e-mail, name, user, session or device identifiers, or the full User-Agent. PDFRefine does not write cookies, local storage or any identifier for this measurement.

The service only adds up counters per day and discards each event; it does not keep individual events or your IP address next to the counters. As with any internet connection, the hosting infrastructure sees the IP address at the time of the request, as described in “Processing of files and hosting”. Daily counters are kept for up to 400 days.

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal, this measurement is turned off. If it fails or is blocked, the tools keep working normally. The numbers are used to improve product quality, not for advertising or to identify people.

We process personal data to perform the operation you request in the tools (LGPD, art. 7, V; GDPR, art. 6.1.b) and to keep the service available and protected against abuse, based on legitimate interests (LGPD, art. 7, IX; GDPR, art. 6.1.f).

Language preference is stored from your choice in the language selector or from the language detected on your first visit, and can be changed or removed at any time through the selector or by clearing site data in your browser.

Measurement with Google Analytics is based on your consent (LGPD, art. 7, I; GDPR, art. 6.1.a), which you can withdraw at any time through “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

The first-party, aggregated measurement of tool usage, with no identifier and no cookies, is based on the legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the service (LGPD, art. 7, IX; GDPR, art. 6.1.f), limited to the minimum set of data described above.

Data protection law grants you, among others, the rights to confirm whether processing exists, access your data, correct incomplete or outdated data, request anonymization, blocking or deletion, request portability, obtain information about sharing, withdraw consent and object to processing.

Given how the service works, PDFRefine does not receive or retain the content of your documents: there is no account, files stay on your device, and original names are never used as identifiers. Technical access data and, if you consent, measurement data are handled by the respective providers, as described in this policy.

Even with local processing, we recommend using updated browsers and keeping copies of original files.

We do not guarantee absolute protection against all software or device risks. Use the tools at your own risk, within the limits described in the Terms of Use.

The service is not directed at children or minors and does not require registration, login or personal data to use the tools.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the service, infrastructure used or applicable law.

The last update date appears at the top of this page. Material changes in data handling will be described here before or together with the change.
