The currently published tools perform operations using the resources of the device, without sending document contents to PDFRefine or third parties for conversion.

File size, page count, and complexity limits may vary according to the capabilities of the device and browser. When a local operation cannot be performed safely within those limits, it is stopped before processing.

Files used in the currently published tools remain on the device throughout processing, without uploading documents for conversion.

Document content is not used for artificial intelligence training, profiling, advertising, or other purposes unrelated to the requested operation.

PDFRefine does not keep copies of processed documents, extracted text, or operation results.

The tools are subject to automated code, compatibility, and network communication tests.

These checks seek to confirm that documents are processed locally as described to users and that files are not transmitted for conversion.

The infrastructure used to provide the site may process technical data necessary for connection, delivery, and security, such as IP address, request date and time, requested page, and basic browser information.

This data is independent of the content of documents processed by the tools. Additional information is available in the Privacy Policy.

PDFRefine does not use advertising, remarketing, or advertising cookies.

The site uses functional storage to retain preferences required for the interface to operate. Google Analytics 4 is optional and is activated only after the user gives consent.

Separately, the site counts technical tool usage (start, completion, failure and download) in aggregate and without cookies, without sending documents or file names.

Whenever possible, PDFRefine seeks to preserve the original structure and elements of the document, including text, links, forms, bookmarks, and other embedded features.

For certain compression operations, when structural preservation is not sufficient to achieve the requested result, conversion of pages to images may be offered. This procedure is performed only after the user is informed and provides confirmation.

Conversion may affect features such as text selection and search, links, interactive fields, bookmarks, annotations, and accessibility features.

Users are advised to retain a copy of the original file before making any modification, especially for digitally signed documents, completed forms, or files containing accessibility features.

Any change to the content or structure of a signed PDF may invalidate a digital signature or change its validation status. When signs of a signature are detected, the user is warned before proceeding.

Tool behavior may vary according to the characteristics of the file, the selected operation, the browser, and the resources available on the device.

Not every document can achieve a particular size or result without a relevant loss of quality or functionality. In such cases, PDFRefine reports the result obtained and, when applicable, presents alternatives to the user.

Local processing reduces the need to transmit document content because it avoids sending the file to processing servers during the operation.

This architecture does not eliminate risks associated with the device, browser, operating system, network, or infrastructure used to provide the site.

For greater security, keep the browser and operating system up to date, use trusted devices and networks, and retain copies of important documents.
